Q. Why did you join Animal Eye Clinic?
Shelby: I have been working in eyecare for about 8 years and I have always loved connecting with people and helping them with their vision. Being able to be a part of giving that same experience to animals is a such a gift.
Q. Describe why pets are important to you/how have pets changed or influenced you?
Shelby: Growing up, I always had a pet that was there for me and brought me a lot of comfort. I grew up with cats and a German Shepherd and shared so many memories with them. Pets can teach us so much about love and loyalty. Three years ago, I rescued my soul cat Shere Khan and he’s gotten me through some of my hardest moments.
Q. What are you passionate about?
Shelby: I’m extremely passionate about self improvement and leaving people better than you found them. I strive to be a better version of myself to take that out into the world every day. If I can be a light in someone else’s day, I feel real joy in my heart.
Q. What is your education/where did you go to school?
Shelby: I graduated from Western High School. I have worked in both optometry and ophthalmology for about 8 years. I couldn’t be happier to say I love the field I’m in today.
Q. What do you enjoy doing?
Shelby: I enjoy spending time with my two kiddos, my pets, traveling, being in nature, journaling, drawing and yoga.
Q. What are three things on your bucket list?
Shelby: Travel to all 50 states, own a Savannah cat and take my kids to Disney world.
